Editorial Board Nomination Process

Editorial Board Qualifications and Duties

The editors seek educators in student affairs who have records of scholarship and experience suitable to evaluate research manuscripts concerning issues and topics of interest. JCSD Editorial Board members are confirmed by the ACPA Governing Board and serve three-year terms, starting and ending with the ACPA Convention held each Spring. Board members review approximately two manuscripts every four to six weeks.

Call for Nominations

The call for nominations for the JCSD Editorial Board occurs each fall. Nominations are requested from current Editorial Board members, ACPA Senior Scholars, and the ACPA Governing Board. A notice is also posted in Developments, ACPA's on-line member newsletter, and interested persons may self-nominate. Nominations are solicited beginning in October and are sent to the JCSD Editor, who in turn contacts nominees and collects additional information from those nominees wishing to apply for a Board term. All nominees' files must be completed by the deadline, usually the end of January, for full consideration. A committee formed by the JCSD Editor reviews completed applications, contacts references if necessary, and forwards recommendations for Board appointment to the ACPA Governing Board for their action at the annual convention.
